About UNM Extended Learning

Distance Education & Online Degree Programs

Extended Learning supports Online and Distance Education initiatives at the University of New Mexico. Through its Distance Education mission, Extended Learning has been developing and supporting online learning since 1997. Our staff are recognized as experts on campus for providing academic technology and instructional support related to online course delivery, as well as web technologies used to supplement traditional face-to-face classes. We offer an integrated array of services designed to meet the diverse technical, administrative, and academic technology needs of students and faculty at New Mexico's flagship institution of higher learning.

Extended Learning’s IT, Faculty Services, Marketing, Student Services, and Compliance & Strategic Initiatives units are responsible for the marketing and administration of online courses at the University of New Mexico, the implementation and management of UNM's enterprise Learning Management System, and a host of online media and production services. Please see our Service Catalog for a listing of our services.

Continuing Education & Community Services

Through its Continuing Education mission, Extended Learning supports non-credit personal enrichment and professional development opportunities online and in-person. In addition to adult programs, Continuing Education supports a significant number of children's and youth classes.

Classes are available in scheduled formats as well as through custom training contracts. Get in touch with us to see how we can help you or your business.

Through its community service and outreach programs, UNM Extended Learning / Continuing Education supports multiple contracts and services for the State of New Mexico. The largest of these initiatives is the Early Childhood Services Center (ECSC). Funded by the Children, Youth, and Families Division (CYFD) and the Public Education Department (PED) , the ECSC helps every local community throughout New Mexico more effectively address its early childhood care and education issues and services.

Other large contract initiatives include the None for the Road DWI awareness training, support for the New Mexico Transportation Safety Center, and the Spanish Resource Center.
