Distance Education ClassroomsUNM Extended Learning supports multiple distance education classrooms on main campus, North campus, South campus, and the UNM Continuing Education building. Instructors scheduled to teach synchronous online courses use these classrooms to allow off-site students to collaboratively participate in live UNM classes using web conferencing and lecture capture technologies. Students log in at a scheduled time, often weekly, to participate in the course.
Instructors wishing to use these classrooms should work with their departmental scheduling coordinator. Classrooms are scheduled according to availability and need.
Instructors of synchronous online classes have two areas of support available to them. All online instructors are assigned an Instructional Designer who can help think through pedagogical models and effective use of technology to support learning objectives. Extended Learning also provides direct technology support for Distance Education classrooms through assigned operators and technicians. Training on the operation of the rooms themselves are available on request. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
